Flat Roofing

A flat roof is typically horizontal or less than 10 degrees. A slight slope is desirable to allow for water escape. Flat roofs are more common on commercial properties but are still widely used on domestic properties also. Covering materials that are used in flat roofing include: Bitumen based felt, EPDM rubber sheet, Glass Reinforced Plastic and Liquids. The load bearing deck is commonly OSB board or Plywood.

Our Products

Sheet Materials

Plywood  18mm 2.4M*1.2M  stock sizes. Perfect for constructing the base layer of a flat roof.

OSB - A very popular structural board Two variants are stocked: 2.4*1.2 sheets at 11mm and 18mm thick. We also stock 2.4*.6 sheets which are tongue and grooved. This product forms a very flat flooring base which is extremely well suited for the application of GRP.

Torch-On Felt

TORCH-ON FELT is a bitumen-based roofing material applied to flat or low-slope roofs using an open flame (blowtorch) to bond it to the surface. Reinforced with glass or synthetic fibres for added strength. Known for its durability, waterproofing performance, and strong adhesion. A very popular choice for domestic properties, the mineral finish adding to the appearance.

EPDM Rubber Sheet

EPDM is an extremely durable synthetic rubber membrane. Cut to the required size and bonded with proprietary adhesive to the substrate. To complement the product a range of trims are available to finish the edges upstands etc.

GRP Trim

(Glass Reinforced Plastic) is a very popular product in the construction of a flat roof. The onsite installation involves covering a roof structure with T&G OSB boarding and applying a specially prepared resin which is reinforced with glass fibre mat. Complimented with edge and corner trims producing a finished roof that is seamless and waterproof.

Trims

A wide range of edge trims are available to ensure a flat roof looks perfectly finished and prevents water from seeping into the flat roof. Trims are stocked for use in felt roofs and also GRP.

                           Key features of Flat Roofing

Minimal Slopes

Not completely flat, but gently pitched to direct water toward drainage points.

Construction

Typically built using concrete, timber, or steel decking, covered with a waterproof membrane.

Waterproof materials

Includes materials like:
Bitumen-based systems (e.g., felt roofing), EPDM (rubber), TPO/PVC (single-ply membranes), GRP (glass-reinforced plastic), Liquid-applied systems

Accessibility

Often used for terraces, green roofs, or service equipment (like HVAC units).

Maintenance

Requires regular inspection and upkeep due to higher susceptibility to water pooling and leakage compared to pitched roofs.
